PhD Talk Rezaul Tutul

Rezaul Tutul will present the topic of his dissertation: Non-verbal Sound-Driven Human-Robot Interaction in Education: A Gamified and Fair Approach to Enhancing Motivation and Engagement.

Dear Members of the Institute,

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 11:15 a.m., Rezaul Tutul will present the topic of his dissertation: Non-verbal Sound-Driven Human-Robot Interaction in Education: A Gamified and Fair Approach to Enhancing Motivation and Engagement

The presentation will be held in a hybrid format.

In room RUD25 3.408,

and Online: https://hu-berlin.zoom-x.de/j/65907275160?pwd=24noUDWWrtiDjsADKcV9ySV9F3lB8k.1

Here is the summary of the talk:

This PhD research investigates how non-verbal, sound-driven input combined with multimodal robot feedback (gesture, sound, and speech) can enhance students’ motivation and engagement in educational settings. A gamified quiz system was developed using the Pepper robot, incorporating first-responder detection through cross-correlation and machine learning methods. Through controlled experiments and validated survey instruments, the study evaluates how different interaction designs impact learner experience, system usability, and non-verbal sound detection performance under real-world classroom conditions.

You are cordially invited to attend this talk.

Kind regards,
Gergana Vladova
