Content

A process engine is a software automates business process execution by means of control and monitoring mechanisms based on process models. In practice, there are many processes that can be automated if the control is based on events. Such events are produced by sensors, for instance a "real-time locating system (RTLS)" in a hospital. The goal of this project is the development of a system for event-driven process control: An event-driven process engine. This engine shall be based on existing open source components for the execution of processes (e.g. jBPM, Activiti), and for event processing (e.g. Esper, WSO2 CEP). One subgoal is the development of an intuitive, graphical front-end for process modeling based on annotation of process models with event patterns. The other subgoal is to implement the event-driven execution of these annotated process models.

Inhalt
