Full-time research associate (E-13) position (deadline: February 2, 2024)

 

The Distributed Computing Group at Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, is looking for a

 

Full-Time Research Associate in Distributed Algorithms (TV-L 13), PhD or Postdoc level

 

starting from April 1, 2024. The position is for two years.

The Distributed Computing Group at HU Berlin conducts research broadly in the theoretical foundations of distributed computing, including

  • distributed graph algorithms,
  • fault-tolerant coordination algorithms,
  • randomised algorithms and stochastic dynamics,
  • simulation and mathematical analysis of discrete, stochastic dynamics in, e.g., biology.


Successful applicants will:

  • conduct research in the area of distributed computing, distributed algorithms, and related areas,
  • develop techniques for the design and analysis of distributed algorithms and proving lower bounds in distributed computing,
  • publish research results in renowned journals and the proceedings of leading international conferences,
  • participate in teaching of the Chair of Distributed Computing, and
  • take tasks for advancing their own academic qualifications.


Applicants should have:

  • an excellent MSc degree (for a PhD level position) or an excellent PhD (for Postdoc level position) in computer science, mathematics, or related fields
  • knowledge in the fields of theoretical computer science, discrete mathematics and/or discrete stochastic processes
  • expertise in the design and analysis of algorithms, lower bounds, and/or discrete stochastic processes,
  • experience with solving mathematical and algorithmic problems
  • excellent scientific communication and writing skills in English.
