Jane holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and a Master's in Computer Science from Malmö University, Sweden. In her Master’s thesis, she investigated how mobile phones can be used to reduce maternal mortality in Uganda and Tanzania.

She is a lecturer at the Institute of Computer Science at MUST and a part time lecturer at Uganda Martyrs University, Nyamitanga Campus, and joined the research group of Prof. Pinkwart in December 2015 on a KAAD grant for conducting PhD studies. Her research focuses on security models for mobile healthcare systems, especially in settings where mobile devices are shared.

Her other research interests include Geographical Information Systems, wireless sensor networks and computer graphics (visualization).
